Always in the same guideline as to offer you a stylish tie with quality silk handcrafted in southern Italy! Gentlemenclover ties are modern and entirely handmade in Italy, without lining and with a hand-rolled hem giving them a sartorial spirit.
Choice of 5-ply
The subject of difference between the constructions, apart from being very personal, is not very obvious when we talk about the choice of a 5-ply or the choice of a 7-ply.
However, we note a distinction in the transition from 3-layer to 5-layer. You have a tie that holds better, that remains light without denigrating the quality of construction.
The positive point is the choice of not having a lining that gives you a real comfort when you wear it!
Choose the right length and width of the tie:
For the length, three criteria are taken into account:
– your size
– your favourite trousers: and how you wear them (high or normal size?)
– the style you are looking for: for a classic business wear you will have a small panel that comes to the same length as the big one, while for a more sartorial style you will let the small panel exceed the big one.
And for the width, here is what you have to consider:
– your size: 7,5 to 8 if you have a thin size, more if you are stronger.
– your wardrobe: the width of your tie should be in proportion to the width of the lapels of your jacket, and of your shirt collar.
Note that it is possible to be thin and wear a suit with wide lapels, an imposing shirt collar and a tie 8.5 or even 9 cm wide. However, the opposite is strictly not recommended.
Patterns and style tips
It’s not necessarily easy to wear a tie with a floral pattern: most of the ties of this type that you can find in stores have a rather coarse pattern. We have chosen to play on subtlety here: as much in terms of colors as in terms of patterns.
The quality of our weavers also allows colors that are not found elsewhere, and which alone are enough to bring a tasteful originality to a work outfit.
To wear them well, we recommend plain clothes, a little textured or with discreet patterns: navy blue or gray suit, white or light blue shirt or possibly with stripes or fine checks.
